Established as a community non-profit in 1972, The Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBTQ community.

The mission of The Center is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, immigrant, and HIV communities for the betterment of our entire San Diego region.

The Center is sex-positive and provides advocacy and critical health and social support services to support our community members through all stages of life, focusing on our deeply held values of equity, social justice, and client-centered, trauma-informed care.

The Center currently has over 75 staff working at five facilities across San Diego County.

As of 04 / 01 / 2023, the Center has relaxed its COVID-19 vaccination requirement for employment. New employees are encouraged but not required to be vaccinated.

The Centre reserves the right to amend this requirement based on health concerns and / or governmental recommendations to protect the well-being of our community.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Crisis Services Manager, The Stop the Hate (STH) Coordinator provides Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) to ensure equal access to quality care to help achieve health equity.

The STH Coordinator will establish rapport with clients and partnering organizations and include communication with law enforcement.

The STH Coordinator staff will assess any further needs of the client and make referrals to other Center programs and to our organizational network of community-based partners.

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Provide Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) to ensure equal access to quality care to help achieve health equity.
• Provide in-person and remote options for crisis intervention, including safety planning.
• Communicating Information and Referral about the criminal justice process and victim rights and services in case there is an escalation to criminal acts, warm connections with other victim service programs, and referrals to other services, supports, and resources.
• Assessing safety and providing Case Management to clients.
• Assist the Crisis Team in providing Crisis Intervention for clients.
• Complete timely and accurate case notes, data collection, and other documentation for assigned clients.
• Complete timely program documentation and reporting, ensuring that programs are on track to meet contractual goals and grant deliverables and ensure spending is within grant guidelines.
• Collaborate with the Center's Training Institute to ensure training goals are met.
• Validating individual's feelings and concerns.
• Clarifying the issues and identifying options to resolve the problems.
• Communicating with other staff and people involved in the client's care.

Required Qualifications :

• Education / Experience : At least 1 year of experience and knowledge of LGBTQ affirming resources in San Diego, case management experience, and experience using electronic records to document client interactions.
• Professional Skills : Ability to interact with various types of community members; strong planning and organizational skills;

comfort making connections through phone calls; ability to track and report on goals.

• Personal Skills : Outgoing and personable; familiarity with the LGBTQ communities and the work of The Center; familiarity with speaking with Law Enforcement.
• Technology Skills : Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite.
• Language Skills : Fluency in English.

preferred QUALIFICATIONS :

• Education / Experience : 3 years of experience training in trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing; Experience with working with Law enforcement.
• Language Skills : Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS :

• Compensation : The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour and is commensurate with experience. This is a Full-Time, Regular, Non-Exempt
